Analyzing possible trends and developments
Increased market share by reducing cost of task implementation and computation.
Most applications run on cloud computation. Traditional locally run software becomes rare, as even the most complex and time sensitive consumer tasks, such as gaming, are currently shifting towards cloud-based solutions it can be expected, that this trend will occur in almost all areas of computing. This could change the way humans interact with devices, as traditional operating systems may no longer be required, but rather a web-based system will be the central element of technical devices.
On-device computation will only exist where it is essential, for example in Edge-AI use cases such as robots or autonomous things. By using improved Deep Neural Network ASICs (perhaps empowered by quantum computing), these edge AIs can perform complex tasks as well.
Growth of Blockchain usage, especially in data-security and digital currency. Traditional currency won't play the same role as it does today.
Autonomous, pro-active behaving objects play a role in almost every aspect of life. As one can only see with autonomous cars and household robots (such as "roomba") the acceptance of autonomously behaving objects increases. More and more will come.
More acceptance, as specific tasks can be achieved better with voice, though no overall transition takes place.
